WHEREAS, On September 22 nd 2021, Speaker of the House Eric Barlow and President of the Senate Dan Dockstader issued a public statement via a press release asserting that: “We will be assisting the Republican Party in ensuring there are appropriate statutory means to remove an elected official…”; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing that the accountability of all publicly elected officials from the Governor to the State Legislators, County Commissioners, Municipal Council Members, and School Boards is the direct responsibility of ‘We the People’ with whom all powers of government are inherent; and
WHEREAS, No statutory path exists for ‘We the People’ to exercise that power of
accountability through recall.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Carbon County Republican Party hereby calls on Speaker of the House Eric Barlow and President of the Senate Dan Dockstader to honor their earlier public statement of “assisting the Republican Party in ensuring there are appropriate statutory means to remove an elected official…” and for every publicly elected legislator in the state to sponsor, support, and vote for the immediate passage of legislation providing for an
appropriate statutory means to remove any publicly elected official in any office throughout the state of Wyoming, as this is not simply a partisan issue that benefits only one or two political parties interests, but an issue of recognizing that “All power is inherent in the people, and all free governments are founded on their authority, and instituted for their peace, safety and
happiness; for the advancement of these ends they have at all times an inalienable and indefeasible right to alter, reform or abolish the government in such manner as they may think proper.”; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party hereby calls on Governor Mark Gordon to actively, enthusiastically, and whole heartedly support this legislative effort as well as immediately sign it into law upon its successful passage by the Wyoming State Legislature.
