Immigration Reform

WHEREAS, we believe illegal aliens are by definition breaking the law;

WHEREAS, we believe the driving force of illegal immigration is the failure of

countries of origin to create conditions in which their people can thrive; and

BE IT RESOLVED, laws should be enforced for the safety and well-being of the

citizenry and also for those entering this nation legally; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party expects limiting passage

across our borders to legal crossing points, and using necessary means to secure the borders and protecting our national sovereignty, including border fencing,

electronic surveillance, and increased border patrols including the use of National

Guard in problem areas; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that law enforcement in the United States be required to turn

over illegal aliens convicted of felonies to ICE (Immigration and Customs

Enforcement) for deportation after completion of criminal sentencing; and

BE IT RESOLVED, the Wyoming Republican Party supports a federal law whereby

the granting of automatic United States Citizenship by birth is only to an individual born of at least one United States citizen or a legal resident; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that blanket amnesty for illegal aliens be perpetually outlawed;

and

BE TI RESOLVED, that federal agencies be required to share with each other

information on illegal aliens that would lead to the deportation of illegal aliens,

rather than supporting them through our taxpayer- funded programs; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that any state or local law enforcement agency or officer be

allowed to ask the legal status of criminal suspects and to aid the federal

government in the deportation of criminal illegal aliens; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports the strict

enforcement of existing visa laws; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that no action should be taken by the Governor related to the

federal refugee resettlement program without prior consultation and consent from Legislative, County Commissions, and Municipal Governments throughout

the state; and

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports that there be no

“Fast Track” to citizenship by illegal aliens. We require that the U.S. Congress

positively address the expeditious processing of applications for citizenship.

Passed:

Wyoming Republican Party, 22 May 7 State Convention
