Disposal of Wind Turbine and Solar Arrays




WHEREAS, the useful life of a current or present day wind turbine is twenty years after which they must then be disassembled and disposed of; and


WHEREAS, the useful life of a photovoltaic module is also twenty years or less; and


WHEREAS, we believe the wind and solar industries have failed to adopt recycling mechanisms, re-use opportunities and is certainly not reducing the manufacture and installation of turbines, or solar arrays; and


WHEREAS, old turbines are being dumped into Wyoming municipal landfills; and


WHEREAS, also there exists no provision for the disposal, recycling, re-use or

reduction of solar array components at the end of their useful lives; and


BE IT RESOLVED, no person, corporate entity or political subdivision of the State of Wyoming shall place obsolete wind turbines or solar arrays, in whole or in part, into any Wyoming solid waste facility, municipal or commercial, without having previously fully bonded, and entered into a Memorandum of Understanding, with the state of Wyoming for such disposal.
