Cut the Department of Education and Restore Local AuthorityIn Education


WHEREAS, throughout the colonial, revolutionary, and early republican periods of American history, schooling was intensely local: entrusted to the families, local communities, and states of the Republic; and,


WHEREAS, since the establishment of the federal Department of Education, educational achievement according to many indices has fallen across the country;


BE IT RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party supports the abolition of the federal Department of Education and the restoration of local authority over public education; and,


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Wyoming Republican Party affirms the authority of local school boards to uphold educational standards, and the proper role of the Wyoming Department of Education to serve them in an advisory capacity.
